Amazon Web Services (AWS) releases dozens of new products and features every year. With every new product launch, a number of illustrated assets are created for use throughout the AWS marketing website, referred to as a “product launch package”.
This package includes illustrations serving as “site merchandising” placements to promote the product across the site, as well as icon assets to represent the product in wayfinding and in diagrams.
Collaborating with product marketing managers, I’ve designed upwards of 30+ product launch packages, and have contributed to art directing and training other designers hired over the course of four re:Invent seasons. I’ve produced and released hundreds of product and feature icons designed by other designers and myself while fulfilling my role as icon production manager.
My role: Illustration, icon design, production and project management, art direction, training

Product launch packages
Working within AWS brand guidelines, I’ve designed more than 30 product and feature launch packages, each comprised of site merchandising illustrations for 9 different placements, icon assets in 4 sizes and 3 color variations, and How it Works diagrams for product detail pages.
Editorial illustrations
Inspired by an existing library of illustrated metaphors to build from, I designed editorial illustrations appearing on the AWS marketing website home page, promoting newly launched products and features.
Icons
I designed and produced product and feature icons appearing on the AWS marketing website and in architecture diagrams. Assets for product icons are created in four sizes, produced with and without a colored tile corresponding with architecture icon category color.
